It has commanded most of my waking hours and crosses the barrier into dreams. It challenges and demands my self-determination and self-motivation. It insists on pushing the limits of my skill and creativity each and every time I stand before the easel. I continue to be a willing slave to the beauty of the human form and the disciplines of representational art.
Cheryl began her love affair with the drawing of portraits and figures by copying the faces of pop star personalities from magazines as a teenager. When she graduated from college, her BA degree in Fine Art focused on life drawing in graphite. It was not until 2010 that she had added color to her world. Looking to fast-track her knowledge of color and paint, she nested under the wings of over 18 artist high-fliers in Oregon, California and the Scottsdale Artists' School in Arizona. She can currently be found working and teaching classes in her private studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cheryl's artistic recognition is rapidly expanding and her list of awards is growing by leaps and bounds. She was accepted into both the Oil Painters of America's National and Regional exhibitions in 2017. She received 2nd place in the 2016 OPA Spring Online Showcase, was accepted in the American Women Artists Tucson Museum show, and received a scholarship award from the Portrait Artists of Arizona annual exhibition. She is an active member of the Portrait Society of America, Cecelia Beaux Foundation, Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, Women Artists of the West, American Women Artists, Portrait Artists of Arizona, and other local organizations.
